IDEWES is a non-governmental organization (NGO) that was founded in 1999 and registered in 2001 under Section 10 of the NGO’s Co-ordination Act. The organisation was founded with the aim of mobilizing the community, resources and technical capacity in addressing the myriad of problems facing communities in Kibera.

IDEWES is located in Kichinjio village of Kibera.
Our key beneficiaries are children, women and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs). IDEWES has five key programme areas which are implemented by local staff and supported by international volunteers

To enable communities in Kibera achieve their maximum potential by enhancing their capacity and providing them with opportunities.

Improved livelihoods of children, women and people living with HIV/AIDs (PLWHAs) through the provision of tools that enable sustainable development and maximizes access to opportunities.
